  • First video recording with the Jimmy Roe Trio, shot live at EPIC Studios in Norwich.

As ever, many thanks to my friends at Carrera Drums, Pellwood Drumsticks and Anglia Drum Centre for supplying all the gear I am using in the shoot.

  • I shall be performing with with my good friend Jimmy Roe in his famous Jimmy Roe Trio at VicFest in Martham (Norfolk), in the first live performance with the brand new Trio line-up at 2:30pm on Saturday 3rd August.

A few days later, we shall be recording a live video with the Trio at EPIC Studios in Norwich, featuring some of the latest new material on which we have been working.  Stay tuned for a link to these when they are online!

I’m really enjoying working with Jimmy again, and can’t wait for you all to see and hear the new tracks.

  • Witchers will be taking a break from finishing up work on the forthcoming album to make an appearance at the Cambridge Rock Festival on Friday 2nd August in a rare ‘back-to-the-roots’ set as a four-piece.

Our set is at midday on 2nd August, for forty minutes. I’m really looking forward to playing live with Witchers again, and getting back into the festival scene.

If you want to come along, we have some tickets available from the band – you can get in touch with me here, or contact us through the Witchers Facebook Page.

  • This Friday, the Sistema In Norwich Martineau Orchestra will be performing live at EPIC Studios in Norwich, in the biggest, most exciting end-of-term concert to date. This will include linking up with In Harmony Liverpool over the internet to perform simultaneously via a live video stream, as well as the involvement of In Harmony Lambeth and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Doors open at 7:00pm, and the performance begins at 7:30pm – tickets are free, but must be booked in advance (details below).  For those who can’t attend the concert in person, the whole event will also be streamed live online, on the EPIC Studios TV website.

Having worked hard all year with the children from Sistema In Norwich, I am very excited to be involved in what is believed to be a world first (two Sistema orchestras playing together through an online video link) with them, and I am looking forward to everyone being able to see the results of all our efforts! Please tune in and watch, if you can’t make it to EPIC Studios on the night.

  • Hollywood! Excerpt

    Hollywood! Excerpt

Here is a short excerpt from the performance of Goff Richard’s “Hollywood!” by Norfolk Wherry Brass, at the London and Southern Counties Regional Contest last weekend, featuring my percussion playing on xylophone and glockenspiel.

  • I shall be playing xylophone and glockenspiel with Norfolk Wherry Brass at Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre on 16th March 2013 in the London and Southern Counties 2013 Regional Qualifying Contest.

Having won the Fourth Section National Finals last year, Norfolk Wherry are now competing in the Third Section, and I am looking forward to playing the show piece.

  • Jimmy Roe Trio

    Jimmy Roe Trio

I’m very excited to be playing drums on a gig with the Jimmy Roe Trio, and hooking up with my good friend and ex-Cardiem guitarist Jimmy on stage again. I can’t wait to jam with Jimmy again, and to play the blues once more!

The gig itself is on Saturday 2nd February, at The Flowerpot in Derby, and is supporting well-known blues guitarist Ron Sayer Jr.

  • Bring On 2013!

    Bring On 2013!

It is, sadly, too late to post this with the title “Happy New Year” – but here goes…

I’ve seen plenty of people asking how 2013 can possibly live up to the wonders that 2012 had to offer.  On a National scale, that may well be the case; 2012 was a Jubilee year, and was the year of a triumphant London Olympics – not to mention the fact that Norwich City Football Club survived to stay up in the Premier League.

On a personal level, however, my first gig of 2013 last weekend, with Crystal Bats, was a belter, while tomorrow sees a return to teaching at Sistema In Norwich, to which I’m very much looking forward.

There are plenty of exciting things planned for 2013 – including more shows with Crystal Bats, a debut album with Witchers (our first studio release since the Throw Your Books Into The Fire EP in July 2010), potentially the biggest ever Keyboard Camp Residential Course, and even a film appearance!  So yes, 2013 is shaping up to be pretty good!

As always, you can keep up-to-date with everything that’s happening here on the site, and by following me on Twitter.

  • I shall be playing piano with the Joe Ringer Band for this nostalgic concert series.

Find yourself transported back to those cool, easy listening days of the 50s & 60s when you will be treated to the hits of Frank Sinatra, Burt Bacharach, Dusty Springfield, Bobby Darin, Aretha Franklin and many more of your favourite artists.

Top vocalist Joe Ringer leads his 8-piece band through a selection of truly classic favourites to create a laid back, swinging night to remember.

So, if you ‘Just Don’t Know What To Do With Yourself’, grab your ‘Wives & Lovers’ and enjoy ‘Music to Watch Girls by’, with matinée and evening shows on 17th November 2012, at The Fisher Theatre, Bungay, and another evening show at Dereham Memorial Hall on 22nd February 2013.

Get tickets for the two performances at The Fisher Theatre on 17th November 2012 here. Tickets for the performance at Dereham Memorial Hall on 22nd February 2013 will be available soon.
